Myth and Make Believe

I'm a freelance Illustrator and exhibiting artist based in Plymouth currently studying a masters in Illustration at Plymouth College of Art.

In my short time as an Illustrator I've worked with various individuals to produce editorial illustrations to accompany pieces of creative writing, articles, poems etc, while exhibiting work across the South West.

I've always gravitated towards work that sparks curiosity in the viewer and I try to take this on board with my Illustrations, deliberately trying to hide the deeper reflections that on the surface looks fun and light-hearted but on further inspection echoes much darker subject matter.

Similar to much of my art this piece looked into our fascination with myth and legends, I happen to also be reading a book at the time about mythology. Again I wanted to go beyond simple portraiture and look at different subject matter. In many myths there are various animal combinations like the Chimera, Minotaur etc and so wanted to do my own take on this.
