Artist
Anna Grayson
I trained originally as a geologist - an observational science that required drawing and photography skills - and went on to work in the media as a science writer, BBC presenter, and maker of short films and radio programmes. When I turned 60, I opted for a bit of a change in direction and spent a year at art school obtaining a diploma in fine art and design. Very shortly after completing this course my work was given a commendation by the South West Academy and shortly afterwards I had my first piece hung in the RA Summer Exhibition. This was the first of four exhibitions I took part in there. In 2018 I was part of Grayson Perry’s famous Yellow Room installation, and in Lockdown I took part in his TV series for Channel 4. I have also had work hung in the Royal West of England Academy and had a solo show in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter. I have been exhibiting with Artizan since 2014, at one time taking over the lavatory in Lucius St as "The Loovre". I am best known for my photographic re-imaginings of famous works of art, which have found their way to private collections all round the world. I also have a lifelong love of painting and drawing which I have developed into printmaking.
