Things Happen Here
Sarah Burt
Sarah Burt is an aspiring printmaker based in South Devon. Graduating from Brighton University in 2002, Sarah didn’t start printmaking seriously until January 2024. Sarah uses printmaking to express her love of social history, nature and architecture.
Sarah’s work focusses on buildings or places that people may not initially see the beauty in; often invaded by self-seeding plants, yet full of abstract lines and interesting textures. Capturing the beauty of a place that is often completely overlooked.
Sarah uses recycled Tetrapak cartons to create her prints. Inspired by the idea of giving new life to a material that would otherwise be thrown away, capturing the beauty of a place and printing it on ‘rubbish’. Driven by the amount of detail and texture that can be achieved, her initial drawings take on a completely different feel depending on how she inks the plate.
