Wild and Bold They Stand
Zoe Buffery
Zoe is an artist and printmaker living and working in rural North Devon. She creates multi-layered linocuts, which are largely inspired by her love of the outdoors and relationship with the natural world. Her work often looks at the connection between memory and place, exploring feelings of nostalgia and a sense of belonging. She has a deep interest in the environment and the role we play in shaping our surroundings.
Zoe uses traditional printmaking techniques and tools and constantly strives for the highest possible level of craftsmanship. She predominantly uses the reduction printing process to build up layers of colour, alongside an intricate mark-making style that is informed by her preliminary pen and pencil studies. She tends to be drawn towards a subtle and limited colour palette that evokes a sense of reflection, composure and remembrance.
