Mary MacDermott is a Printmaker/Painter working in Torbay.  She has been printmaking  since she joined the Printmakers at Dartington in 1998 following her graduation from Plymouth School of Art & Design where she studied Graphic Art.

 

She now print-makes with the Tamar Valley Printmakers at Tavistock, led by Mary Gillett and has taken part in many exhibitions with this group following the blockbuster ‘Mayflower 400’ collaborative exhibition between Cape Cod Printmakers of Massachusetts USA & The Tamar Valley Printmakers.  This show travelled to Plymouth, Torre Abbey  in Torquay, Cape Cod & The University of Massachusetts 2020 where it was enthusiastically received and has become a permanent show.

 

Mary has also exhibited with The Tamar Valley Group at Prince William Yard, Plymouth. UK, Lyme Kiln Gallery at Calstock Cornwall, Open Studios at Brixham & Paignton, and the Torbay Guild of Artists Autumn 2025 Torre Abbey Spanish Barn.

 

Mary’s works on zinc & copper plates.  Her etchings/aquatints are a variety of compositions depicting ordinary people & animals doing everyday things in their natural surroundings where she plays with perspective, and lights & shade.
