I am a full time professional Artist based in St.Ives in Cornwall. This is where I was born, my family were all seafarers. My mother's family were all fishing people from the tiny harbour here, my grandfather even wrote a book about his life at sea.
I studied at Falmouth School of Art where I gained my B.A (Hons) Degree in Art, a pursuit I have always followed from early childhood.
After running my own Art Gallery in St.Ives for 22 years, I decided I wanted to be outside with my dogs and painting full time, so that's what I did almost 10 years ago and I've never looked back.
I have a couple of galleries that have my work for sale, I have a good base of collectors and have sold my work all over the world.
I believe drawing and painting is something you have in your DNA and like anything it needs to be exercised. I will often have manic painting sprees and paint right through the night until I paint myself out.
I have travelled the world, but Cornwall is in my soul and I am at peace here.
Cornwall is my inspiration, I never take where I live for granted, I get up at 5am most days and get out there, it's beautiful, no matter what the weather. I love the off-season times during the wild Atlantic storms, the weather affecting the light we are famous for here.I really hope I bring a little bit of the passion I have for this beautiful county to anyone that views my work.
My favourite Beach in St.Ives, as children, we would be there every day in the summer. The most beautiful skies and sunsets can be viewed here. Even when it's crowded in the high season, you can find a secret spot to sit and watch the light dance in the pools.
This view captures the distant headlands of Man's Head and Clodgy Point, the start of the Coastal walk to Zennor. We call this type of sky a 'mackerel sky' in St. Ives.
