Holly Magdalene Scott
Holly Magdalene Scott is a printmaker based high in the North Pennines of rural Cumbria. A self-taught printmaker specialising in relief printmaking techniques, she is known for her well-observed, sensitive linocuts of birds. Borne from a strong connection to the land and inspired by memories of chance encounters with the wildlife within it, her hand-coloured prints seek to evoke the timelessness of avian lives. Holly’s prints are created without a press, printed by hand in small, varied editions, imbuing each one with the unique character of its subject. Through careful observation and rendering of detail, Holly’s work seeks to elevate the overlooked and highlight beauty in the familiar.

Contemporary British Printmakers on the English Riviera
Following a successful month at Delamore Arts, Artizan Collective are pleased to be bringing their Contemporary British Printmakers Exhibition to their gallery on Lucius Street, as they prepare to make an announcement about future activity and plans for the venue. From woodcut to etching, lithography to mezzotint, monotyping to mokulito, the variety and diversity of printmaking techniques makes it a near endlessly explorable art form, and one that has defined trends and tastes for centuries. As a practice and craft, it owes much of this evolution to the dialogue that grew between those that pursued its practical use as a tool for reproducing text and image, and the artists that sought to exploit the opportunities this bore for their own creative expression. Today, the spidering and innumerable tributaries that the practice has taken, lend their successes both to the worlds of modern publishing and printing and to one of the most exciting art markets of the 21st century. Contemporary British Printmakers 2024 is the inaugural exhibition curated by Artizan Collective on behalf of Delamore Arts. It brings together 30 printmakers from across the UK, showcasing 80 original works and exploring 11 techniques that span over a thousand years of the artform. The exhibition will launch on Saturday 15th June and will then run from 20th June – 3rd August Thursday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm
