Mixed Media Glass by Clare Gillingham
Yellow Underwing
Clare Gillingham
Clare Gillingham is an artist raised, living and working in Camborne, Cornwall. She draws from her scientific background and fascination with humanities’ changing relationship to nature and place over time. Her process includes exploring the carns, moors, coast and urban back-lanes of Penwith and Kerrier. Her glass, painting, printmaking are an emotional and experimental response to the colour, light, lines in the landscape, dramatic skies, and overlooked flora and fauna. An important driver of her work is embracing imperfections and the unexpected and she uses natural materials and re-purposed man-made materials together. Her work is a meditation on the interconnectedness of all things and how grit and beauty coexist.
Made with layers of float glass, incorporating recycled metals from human food packaging and botanicals - fern, wild strawberry, herb robert, black medic.
