Wish Stone Vase
Michele Vaudin
Michele’s family background is deeply rooted in scuba diving, both recreational and professional, and her passion for coral and marine life sits at the very heart of her ceramic practice. The fragile, diverse beauty of reef systems provides endless inspiration, with her porcelain pieces serving as a tribute to their intricate complexity.
Using a variety of clays, ranging from delicate white porcelain to rugged black stoneware clays, Michele’s work spans expressive artworks and practical wheel-thrown forms, incorporating hand-built elements drawn from ocean life.
From gnarly barnacles to delicate corals and seaweeds, the interplay between ceramic form and marine subject offers endless possibilities.
'Wish stone' vases are made using black stoneware clay, with porcelain inlays, using the mishima technique. A blue glaze lines the internal walls, making them both watertight and functional.
These are all individual, and therefore each vase shown, vary in both their wish stone lines and dimensions.
