The work explores the role of model-making in contemporary art, frequently blurring the lines between painting and photography. Working predominately with miniature tableau's, each piece is carefully composed adapting elements of theatre and illusion. The work is shot using early animation techniques and experimental photography.
Shifting between intimate photographic viewpoints and site-specific installations, the work examines subject matter such as transience, isolation, and the photographic metaphor 'The Passage from Darkness to Light'. The imagery often combines symbolic natural elements such as rock and water which act as signifiers but also bring the sets into the 'real'. These distinct illusory environments examine the juxtaposition between melancholy and play in these miniature staged performances.Photographic Digital Print
