Jessica Lane
Jess Lane is a creative exploring conceptual narratives with an ethereal approach; searching for the unexpected as well as introducing a new way to see. Pulling the viewer out of reality and painting in a light where they can interpret their own story.
Jess’ work is driven by automatism which brings emotion to the forefront of each artwork. Allowing the unpredictable nature of the process to take over and evolve every image into what it once was not.
Dolorem is a therapeutic project created during the COVID-19 pandemic, that has been an outlet for reflection during these times and helped me reconnect with where I live.
All of the images were taken on either polaroids or 35mm film – which were all developed and scanned at home as part of my process, making my work much more physical and creating unexpected outcomes.
Watercolour painting is also something I enjoy and has helped me during these times, some of these works have been featured throughout the book, reflecting upon the shapes found within the images.
