Matthew O'Halloran
I'm a freelance Illustrator and exhibiting artist based in Plymouth currently studying a masters in Illustration at Plymouth College of Art.
In my short time as an Illustrator I've worked with various individuals to produce editorial illustrations to accompany pieces of creative writing, articles, poems etc, while exhibiting work across the South West.
I've always gravitated towards work that sparks curiosity in the viewer and I try to take this on board with my Illustrations, deliberately trying to hide the deeper reflections that on the surface looks fun and light-hearted but on further inspection echoes much darker subject matter.
This Illustrations is taken from a personal body of work titled 'Innocence Lost'- The purpose of this work is to explore the nature of Innocence within ourselves and how this slowly fades as we get older, trying to visualise factors within ourselves and society that corrupt this idea of 'Innocence'
