Jo Ward
Jo Ward is a contemporary art student at South Devon University and a multidisciplinary creative based in Torquay, UK. Her practice includes textiles and fashion, slip clay ceramics, collage, print with elements of digital work & science . She explores urgent social themes through deeply personal narratives.
Drawing from her own life experiences, Jo's work often investigates emotional transformation, global issues and the invisible forces that shape human connection. She is particularly interested in translating emotions and human experience through visual forms, using materials and experimental techniques to reveal stories that are often unspoken.
Before entering the contemporary art world, Jo has built a successful business as a female entrepreneur and business owner, designing immersive escape rooms in Torquay where she creates narrative-driven environments and puzzles. This background in storytelling and audience experience continues to influence her artistic practice, encouraging interactive, layered, and conceptually rich work.
Now in her second year studying Contemporary Arts, she approaches her long-held ambition of becoming an artist with curiosity, humour, and fearless experimentation. What began as a “bucket list” goal has evolved into a powerful creative journey—one that merges art, science, and lived experience to question, connect, and most importantly provoke conversation.
She has been offered a place at Central St Martins London to continue her studies
