Artist
Rhian Wyn Harrison
Rhian is an artist and illustrator who works from her home studio in Paignton on the South Devon coast. In a previous life she was a graphic designer and typographer. She realised that she had neglected her childhood love of drawing, painting, and colour, so began to experiment, finding her artist voice and her own quirky style. Creating lively and colourful mixed media illustrations, Rhian repurposes old books and maps as both the backgrounds and the inspiration for her work, with a nod towards her design career. Her challenge is always to find an unexpected interpretation between word and image. Drawn by hand, then coloured with ink, gouache paint and pastel, Rhian uses traditional techniques and usually adds a sprinkle of wit or humour with hand stamped lettering. Rhian has built an extensive local following, successfully exhibiting at many Devon galleries, including Delamore Arts, SWAc Open and Torre Abbey. Her distinctive style lends itself to many subjects and themes, but recent involvement as an Accredited UNESCO artist for The English Riviera Geopark, has focussed on local sea life and birds. She recently completed a Masters in Illustration at Falmouth University and is writing and illustrating a children's book about a puffin.

Exhibition Record
Makers Takeovers
Following a resounding success in their inaugural year, the Maker Takeovers return to Delamore Arts for 2026. This dynamic series of rotating mini pop-up artist spaces quickly became a favourite for visitors in 2025, offering an ever-changing showcase of the South West's creative talent. Hosted in the Stable Block, the Maker Takeovers ensure that no two visits to Delamore are ever the same. Throughout the month of May, we present a fresh line-up of artisans every few days, creating a vibrant, "micro-fair" atmosphere. This year’s curation features an eclectic mix of disciplines, including: •Fine Craft: Jewellery makers, leather workers, and mosaic artists. •Contemporary Form: Wire sculptors, ceramicists, and woodturners. •Traditional Media: Printmakers and painters working in a variety of styles. What makes the Takeovers truly special is the opportunity for direct connection. Unlike a traditional gallery setting, these spaces allow you to meet the creators behind the work. Visitors are invited to: •Watch Live Demonstrations: See the technical skill and patience required to create handmade treasures. •Hear the Stories: Learn about the inspirations and processes that define each artist's practice. Nestled within the picturesque Stable Courtyard at Delamore, the Maker Takeovers form part of Artizan Collective's activity, alongside The Kiln Room ,the Contemporary British Printmakers exhibitions, the Old Workshop and new for 2026, the Courtyard Shop. Whether you are looking for a statement piece for your home or a small, handmade gift, we invite you to explore, connect, and celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship that defines our region.
