Penny O'Brien

Inspired by the Landscape

Penny O’Brien is a Dartmoor-based ceramic artist whose work draws inspiration from the area’s rugged landscapes and ancient woodlands. Her sculptures explore the hidden networks that sustain life, such as mycelium and lichens, translating these natural systems into organic forms and textures that reflect themes of connection, resilience, and environmental balance.

Currently pursuing an MA in Ceramics at Arts University Plymouth, Penny creates pieces that encourage reflection on humanity’s place within these interconnected ecosystems. Her work highlights the fragile yet powerful relationships that shape the natural world, offering a contemplative perspective on our connection to the environment.
