Wabi Sabi Heart
Victoria Grimberg
As an artist, my work is a reflection of the deep connection I have with the coast, shaped by both my Swedish heritage and living by the sea in Torquay.
The Torbay coastline, a UNESCO Global Geopark, has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The unique geological heritage of the area, with it's striking cliffs, hidden coves, and rich natural history, offers a constant source of inspiration and awe. The colours blue and green are central to my work, representing the endless interaction between land and sea, the lush green hills meeting the vivid blues of the water in an ever-changing dance. These hues evoke the living history of the area—where each rock, shell, sea glass and wave tells a story millions of years in the making.
Time spent along the beach, where the land meets the water has always been a source of fascination and inspiration, whether in Sweden or Devon, has shaped my understanding of the world as a place of beauty, change, and wonder. My art aims to capture both the raw beauty and the ancient energy of Torbay, inviting reflection on our place within this incredible natural history. This is a landscape where history, nature, and the sea converge, and it is in this connection that I find my endless source of creativity.
