Lydia Milford
I live in a rural environment which is very important to me; the open fields, wild moorland and changeable seas of Devon constantly provide motivation for my work.
I trained in illustration at St Martin’s, and in 2000 obtained an M.A in fine Art at Plymouth University.
My practice is focused mainly on the beaches and coves near where I live, I love the colours and the drama of the cliffs and the rocks, and both the turbulence and the calm of the seas which provide a rich and variable source of inspiration. I love exploring seasonal changes with the unpredictability of weather and the changes in light that it brings.
I tend to work in a large format, in mixed media, using mainly acrylic and ink on paper with added marks from whatever comes to hand.
