Art may have taken a back seat in Phil's early career (he studied Fine Arts at Stellenbosch University), but his creativity was all too obvious.

For many years he worked as a writer, actor and theatre director before establishing his own video production company in Johannesburg.

Now living and working in the small seaside village of Selsey, Phil has reconnected with art, particularly abstract painting and mixed media. 'Brushes, palette knives, spatulas, paint, canvas, paper ... it's as if I've been reunited with old friends. Right now I'm obsessed with luscious, rich colours and love to combine paint and different textures to fill the entire canvas. I like to think my work is unique and that I have a style all of my own.'

Phil's work has been accepted in a number of art fairs and exhibitions. He's currently busy completing his Red series.
