Early Morning October

My work is based on personal journeys and remembered places.  Painting is for me a reflective process, a return to those places and times that have burnt themselves into my memory, whether that of standing quietly in the empty space where the sea meets the sky, a moment of stillness watching storm-soaked light or looking towards a flood of morning light through hawthorn trees.  

October mornings- there are nothing quite like them- cool air with puddles of warm air to walk through, stunning colours that change day by day, light streaming through leaves and everything glowing. This is a mixed media painting with layers slowing built up to capture all those different colours. Some areas are then washed back off to reveal the history of the painting.
