Limited Edition Print by Arthur Homeshaw
Dockside Terraces
Arthur Homeshaw was a Westcountry artist whose work tapped into the deep-rooted influence that represent the best in British art. These perspectives are discernible in both his linocuts and his pastels. Furthermore, his work displays an imagination that is both exuberant yet introverted and at times secretive. This paradoxical quality infuses all his work.
Dockside Terraces is one of Arthur Homeshaw’s most important works. Completed in 1954, there were only five that he signed and dated. One was brought by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and three are in private collections. The fifth is currently owed by his artistic estate.
To mark the 60th anniversary of this work a limited edition print of 55 copies was authorised by his estate. This number represented the maximum print run that Arthur produced when he created a lithograph. It is a unique opportunity to own an image that represents a part of post -1945 British art history.
