Xixi

This work explores the changing qualities of light reflected across water. Rather than depicting a specific location, it responds to the shifting atmosphere, colour and movement associated with coastal landscapes. The work reflects on the luminous character of the South West, where light continually transforms the perception of sea and sky.

Surface of Light explores the shifting movement of water and the subtle changes of light across its surface. Through layered marks and translucent colour, the work evokes the experience of looking into an ever-changing landscape where perception is constantly transformed. Rather than depicting a specific place, it invites viewers to experience the atmosphere, rhythm and luminosity associated with coastal environments.
