Yvette Cobley
Yvette's artistic journey began in the north of England where she grew up in a large family, inheriting her creative flare from her mother, a passionate painter. After leaving school Yvette's ambitions were temporarily put on hold as she started a young family, but her artistic spirit never wavered. Years later, with her children grown up, Yvette reignited her practice, exploring a variety of mediums, from mixed media and painting to her true passion - ceramics. Largely self -taught, Yvette found herself drawn to the tactile nature of clay, using her hands to bring the visions in her mind and dreams to life. In 2012, Yvette's artistic endeavours took a remarkable turn when one of her sculptural pieces, a decorative table in human form, was accepted and purchased by a celebrity dealer on the popular TV show "Four Rooms". This success fuelled Yvette's confidence, and she began displaying her works in local galleries and to private buyers.
Yvette's artistic style reflects her own unique perspective, as she explains, "My own ideas - I get a thought in my head or perhaps a dream and I have to create it, it's as simple as that ! As an artist, I don't have a choice until it is done". This unwavering dedication to her craft as earned Yvette recognition, including a win at the Atelier East Summer Exhibition in 2014 for her mixed media chicken sculpture, "Free Range".
Other exhibitions Yvette has participated in include: Ophelia - Art In The Heart Peterborough, Wisbech Gallery Summer Open Exhibition 2023, Wisbech Gallery Summer Open Exhibition 2024, and Wisbech Gallery Draw 25 Exhibition 2025.
Today, resides in Cambridgeshire with her husband, three dogs and three children, continuing to create in a variety of mediums, but always returning to the medium she loves most - ceramics. In her own words "I love the feel and the realisation that something created in the mind or in a dream can be given a tangible form for all to enjoy”. Yvette's artistic journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the transformative nature of creative expression. Her works, imbued with the essence of her dreams and personal experiences, invite viewers to embark on a captivating journey of their own.
