Approaching Storm, Teignmouth Harbour
Des Maxwell Clark
I have been more productive with my watercolour painting this year, inspired partly by the beautiful summer we have experienced here in South Devon. I have stuck to my favourite style of traditional, realistic watercolour landscape painting, and have produced a number of works over the last 6 months, some of which are exhibited here in this exhibition. I particular enjoy painting the sky.
Watercolour is quite an unpredictable medium and this adds to the enjoyment of not knowing exactly what is going to happen with a particular mix of colour and density of water until the paint has dried. I always do this first - my view is, if the sky looks wrong, there is no point in persevering with the rest of the work. I hope the sky has worked for the pieces exhibited here!
