Caroline Lumb
Caroline Lumb is a mixed media, abstract painter, currently based in North Devon.
Her focus is on colour, and explorations of form, using mixed media. Here she combines traditional techniques with contemporary approaches and materials, blurring the boundaries between realism and abstraction.
Her original degree was in Visual Studies, followed my an MA which embedded in Caroline a desire to continually work on her Continuing Professional Development (CPD) the most recent being a year long (part-time) course at Newlyn College of Art.
Due to moving around the country with her family, she has been involved in several galleries and exhibitions over time. Most recently she worked on a joint collaborative exhibition, turning a gallery space into two studios to demonstrate the development of work throughout the week, with the public invited to make return visits.
In 2024 Caroline was one of the prize winners at The Great Broadway Paint Off and in 2023 she had a solo show at RHS Rosemoor.
Caroline was a gallery artist at The Eagle Gallery, Bedford, for several years. She also exhibited at Pardon Mill, Harlow and currently at Art Upstairs Bideford. Her work has also been on show at the WHOBID! annual exhibition at The Burton Gallery, Bideford.
Worked in Mixed media, including pigments, collage and acrylics. Based originally on a landscape and the impact of humans on the land,. When viewed on its side, the form of the land can be seen, but when turned to its current upright position a head emerges which bonds the two concepts together.
