Graham Black

Graham Black is a printmaker based near Land’s End, where the rugged coastal environment of West Penwith profoundly influences his work. After a successful career as an art director in London, he returned to Cornwall to pursue his passion for printmaking, focusing primarily on silkscreen techniques, which he values for their unpredictability and expressive potential.

Graham draws inspiration from the pioneers of British abstraction, such as Nicholson, Hepworth, and Frost, who also found creative fuel in Cornwall’s unique topography. However, his work is distinguished by its exploration of the intricate textures and patterns of the area’s rock formations. Fascinated by both surface detail and structural forms, Graham’s prints offer a compelling interpretation of the natural world’s complexity.
