Ukrainian Watercolour Exhibition

Artizan are delighted to be welcoming members of the International Watercolour Association of Ukraine to the gallery in May. The artists are visiting the UK as part of a unique cultural initiative spearheaded by Ukrainian artist Olya Baklan, now based in Torquay, and one of our studio artists. Olya has developed a project that bridges artistic communities across borders at a truly vital moment and we have welcomed the opportunity to be part of this initiative. As she explains, “The project prioritizes direct human connection. Its aim is not only to support Ukrainian artists during wartime but also to foster meaningful cultural exchange between our communities—strengthening long-term professional relationships and deepening public engagement with Ukrainian culture.” This initiative offers a rare opportunity to engage with contemporary Ukrainian art, experience the artists’ work firsthand, and become a part of an ongoing story of resilience, creativity, and international collaboration.

This spring has awakened the natural world, igniting the creative imaginations of our studio artists: Olya, a watercolorist; Hannah, a ceramicist; and Beth, a printmaker. Their work is rooted in the duality of botany—the idea that every part of a plant possesses the potential to be both a remedy and a poison. In art, flora can be equally intriguing or unsettling, whether it is a curious specimen or an overlooked weed. "We want to highlight that plants are striking, mysterious, poisonous, and healing—often all at once," the artists explain. "It depends entirely on your perception and approach: the perspective from which you research them, the proportions you choose to emphasize, and the narrative you weave around them." As it happens, the secrets of the plant world are deeply intertwined with the lore of Torquay, offering a wealth of stories to explore. "We welcome you through this gate to discover the first path leading to our exhibition this September." 3rd - 15th May (Closed Wednesday 6th, Monday 11th)

Following its highly successful debut in 2025, The Kiln Room returns to Delamore Arts for 2026. Curated by Artizan Collective, this dedicated showcase has quickly become a cornerstone of our programme, offering a specialised look at the vibrant and tactile world of contemporary ceramics. Building on the momentum of its first year, the 2026 exhibition further explores the "dynamic possibilities" of the medium. The Kiln Room serves as a sophisticated companion to the wider Delamore sculpture programme, focusing specifically on the intimate and intricate nature of ceramic art. This year’s curation features an expanded range of work, including: •Functional & Decorative Forms: Exquisite pots and vessels that honour the heritage of utility. •Sculptural Clay: Bold, non-functional works that push the material into the realm of fine art. •Experimental Surfaces: A focus on innovative glazes, raw textures, and the unpredictable "alchemy" of the firing process. Ceramics is a medium defined by the four elements—earth, water, air, and fire. In 2026, we highlight artists who master this ancient dialogue while introducing modern perspectives. From the rhythmic precision of wheel-thrown forms to the organic soulfulness of hand-built pieces, the exhibition demonstrates how clay continues to evolve as a vital medium for contemporary storytelling. The return of The Kiln Room underscores Artizan Collective’s commitment to showcasing the very best of British craft. By providing a dedicated space for ceramic excellence, we invite visitors to move beyond the surface and immerse themselves in the weight, texture, and narrative depth of each piece. Whether you are a seasoned collector of studio pottery or a newcomer to the medium, the 2026 edition of The Kiln Room offers a fresh encounter with the enduring allure of clay.

This exhibition brings together abstract blue paintings, whale sculptures, and coral forms in a shared meditation on the ocean as both a physical and emotional landscape. Across these works, blue is not simply a color but a language—shifting between depth and surface, stillness and movement, presence and absence. The paintings dissolve fixed horizons, inviting viewers into fluid spaces where light, memory, and motion intermingle. In dialogue, the whale sculptures emerge as quiet witnesses—embodying scale, migration, and the fragile majesty of life beneath the surface. Coral forms, intricate and vulnerable, speak to the ocean’s architecture: ecosystems built slowly over time, now suspended between resilience and disappearance. Together, these elements create an environment that is at once immersive and contemplative. The exhibition moves between abstraction and form, between vastness and detail, echoing the rhythms of the sea itself. It asks us to consider not only how we see the ocean, but how we are connected to it—through breath, through time, and through an ever-shifting sense of belonging. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the works open a space for reflection: on beauty and fragility, on presence and loss, and on the unseen forces that shape both the natural world and our inner lives.

Now in its third landmark year, the Contemporary British Printmakers exhibition returns to Delamore Arts. Since its debut in 2024, this showcase has grown into a highly anticipated part of the Delamore programme, establishing a dedicated space to celebrate the intricate, tactile, and masterful world of original print. Building on the success of our previous collections, the 2026 exhibition continues to challenge the misconceptions of the medium. Printmaking is far more than reproduction; it is a primary art form—as vital as oil on canvas or bronze in the round. This year, we delve deeper into the interplay between tradition and the avant-garde, featuring artists who respect the thousand-year history of the craft while pushing the boundaries of what is possible today. From the bold, graphic relief of woodcuts and linocuts to the atmospheric depth of etchings, lithography, and monotypes, the works on display represent a pinnacle of technical discipline. Visitors will explore a curated selection where every mark is a deliberate act of foresight, and every final piece is the result of a transformative journey through the press. Artizan Collective is honoured to continue our collaboration with Delamore Arts. Together, we celebrate the extraordinary creatives who are not just maintaining the heritage of printmaking but are actively shaping its future.

Artizan Collective is proud to return to Delamore Arts for our third consecutive year in 2026. Since our partnership began in 2024, our presence within the historic grounds of Delamore has grown from a single showcase into a vibrant, multi-venue Stableyard Arts Quarter—a dedicated hub for contemporary British craft, fine art, and creative engagement. Based in the heart of the English Riviera, Artizan Collective is a social enterprise dedicated to championing the South West’s creative industries. Since 2014, we have worked from our home in Torbay—a UNESCO Global Geopark—to support hundreds of artists annually, managing cultural venues and providing essential platforms for both emerging and established talent. Our ongoing collaboration with Delamore Arts allows us to extend this mission, bringing the very best of regional and national creativity to one of the most prestigious events on the South West arts calendar. This year, Artizan Collective is delivering its most ambitious programme to date, transforming the Delamore Stable Courtyard into a destination for discovery: •Contemporary British Printmakers: Our flagship exhibition returns for its third year in the Carriage Room Gallery, celebrating the technical mastery and narrative power of original handmade prints. •The Kiln Room: Following its standout success, this dedicated space returns to showcase the "alchemy" of ceramics, from functional studio pottery to avant-garde sculptural clay. •The Old Workshop (New for 2026): Transitioning from a trial of "have-a-go" sessions into a permanent fixture, this dedicated space hosts a full month of curated exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations. •The Maker Takeovers: Located in "The Stalls," these rotating pop-up art spaces offer an intimate, ever-changing opportunity to meet the region’s finest artisans, watch live demonstrations, and buy direct from the creators. "Delamore Arts has become a cornerstone of our annual activity. In our third year, we are thrilled to be deepening our contribution, showcasing the incredible vibrancy of the UK’s creative community. Our commitment remains rooted in the belief that art should be engaging and accessible, and we are honoured to provide a bridge between the extraordinary artists we represent and the discerning visitors of Delamore." Through this curated showcase, we hope to not only add value to the visitor experience but also to shine a light on the incredible talent shaping the future of British art and craft. We invite you to explore, discover, and take home a piece of original creativity this May.
