Yellow Flag - Found Objects
Christine Heath
I paint my emotions and my paintings are what my feelings look like. I don’t paint the things that I literally see, instead I paint an abstract expressive sensibility of the feelings that I experience. My abstract painting practice helps me to explore my inner emotional landscape, creating new painted abstract landscapes in the process.
My recent series of work was inspired by nature and the changing seasons. Each painting creates its own atmosphere and mood through use of colour and texture in mixed media paint on canvas. I believe that colour and light are aesthetics that highly affect and enhance mood. My abstract painting style is therefore highly interconnected with mindfulness. I paint because it helps me to feel present, so for me, painting is like a form of meditation. The process of painting gives me freedom to express how I feel through a kind of visual poetic painted language. I believe strongly in the valuable connections between art, creativity, and mindfulness.
