Unreliable Landscape II
Ian McConaghy
My artwork explores a vision of the future beyond a point where the world system has crashed and it has been necessary to press the re-set button.
As part of my practice, I have written a novel, ' Earthfall,' which will form part of a proposed exhibition. Writing can paint pictures in our minds. In writing, we use metaphor and simile in our attempt to describe and express ideas.
Taking a similar approach with the artwork, I avoid illustrating the story and instead, create mood and atmosphere, to stimulate the viewer and to encourage their own narrative.
The paintings presented for this Open-studio exhibition use these techniques to build new mindscapes.Acrylic on Watercolour Paper
