Coast, countryside flora and fauna are all inspiration for my paintings. Living in Devon, I’m so lucky to have this rich diversity on my doorstep. I take my sketch book and camera with me when walking and visiting beaches and gardens. I take different elements from my sketches and photos then mix them up to get a composition I like.
Over the years, I have experimented with different techniques and mediums, but now feel most comfortable using oil, acrylics, and mixed media. I would describe my work as loose, colourful, textured with an impressionistic approach to detail.
My love of Art and qualifications enabled me to study Graphics and fine art at Exeter College of Art for 3 years and although beneficial, it didn’t really help in progressing my painting abilities. So, I enrolled on many painting courses around the country, which helped me to develop my style and work with different mediums. On this journey I became influenced and interested in British artists like the Bloomsbury group, William Morris, and contemporary artists such as Kurt Jackson and Joan Eardly. I hope my paintings project a feeling of excitement joy and passion which I feel when I create them.
