Watercolour by Claire Meharg
The drawings are part of a new ongoing work, Tracing Coast and Contours, a mapping project of the fragility of existence within the bio/geodiversities of the Geopark. It is a reflection on the sanctuary of rare plant species, diverse wildlife and geological structure and significance, afforded by the Geopark. Sense of self and place, connection and identity are important features in my work. The use of tracing paper is metaphoric. I work a ‘cleanart studio’ using water based paints and media, no solvents, and treeless or sustainable papers and canvas.
