My current works focus on painting and collaborative process. Through conversations and listening, my artwork transforms into a communal space where different ideas are exchanged and reflected upon. My practice considers the type of viewers that would come across my work and what their relationship with the work might be. Through situating the work in the real world at the very start of process, I confront issues and struggles faced in current times. My work intends to provide a platform for two-way dialogue where viewers’ voice are attended with care and embraced wholeheartedly, redefining the relationship between artwork, artist and viewers.
The painting depicts a sensory organ, feet submerging into water which explores the relationship between our body and the sea. Various textures can be seen to highlight our senses, implementing traces of mirror-touch synesthesia. Viewers can imagine and almost physically feel the sensations when our feet submerges into the sea water and touches the sandy bottom as well as brushing pass sea grass. Creating a sensational connection between viewers, their memories of the sea and locality of Torbay.
