The Curious Vixen
Naomi Hulatt
Naomi Hulatt is an artist whose work is deeply inspired by her family, the natural world, and the scenic beauty of South Devon. Her art often features figures, silhouettes, and water, recurring motifs that reflect her connection to her surroundings.
Always seeking to push creative boundaries, Naomi has recently experimented with printing on ink-repellent surfaces, such as gold mount board, yielding vibrant and unpredictable results. Her practice is rooted in her love of the outdoors, where she spends her time running through woodlands, life drawing, painting en plein air, and carving lino blocks.
Naomi also takes commissions and enjoys teaching, sharing her enthusiasm for linocut printing and inspiring others with her passion for the craft. Her work is a joyful celebration of nature and creativity.
This painting was inspired by the sighting of a beautiful young vixen behind the chicken coop, it is painted in vibrant acrylic colours in a confident manner, concentrating on the fox's facial expression and intent and some of the foliage in the foreground. Its meant to be bold and inquisitive- just like the subject! It is framed in a thin white frame- which is just visible in the photograph.
