Unveiling the past: an artistic statement
Artistic Philosophy
My artistic practice is shaped by the belief that creating a better future starts by lifting the veil and peeling away layers of the past. A sense that things are not always what they seem compels me to make art that delves beneath the surface, exploring the hidden realms of history, other worlds, mythology, and legend.
The Allure of the Uncanny and Unexpected
I am continually drawn to the uncanny and unexpected. The elements of contradiction, surprise, and fluidity excite me, pushing my work to the intersection where reality meets the unreal. This fascination manifests through my exploration of boundaries, questioning appearances and seeking what lies beyond them.
Materials and Process
My artistic process and choice of materials are deeply influenced by a desire to create depth and to both conceal and reveal what is beneath the surface. This approach has led me to work extensively with print as a medium, and more recently, to experiment with natural found pigments.
Purpose and Inspiration
Through my art, I aim to uncover hidden aspects of the past and challenge perceptions. Drawing inspiration from mythology, legend, and the unknown, I strive to capture the interplay between reality and imagination. My work is a continual exploration of contradiction, surprise, and the mysterious, inviting viewers to question what they see and consider what may be concealed beneath.
