Clare’s process emphasizes the unique materiality of clay, blending inherited tacit knowledge with techniques like wood firing and the incorporation of local brick, wild clays, and ash. This approach reinforces a connection to tradition and culture, weaving timeless understanding into her forms.

 

Her work draws on parallels with her previous career as a midwife, where mind, hands, and body worked in harmony. This holistic perspective informs her ceramics, imbuing each piece with a sense of unity and profound connection.
