Watercolour On Paper by Andrew Lucas
St James' Church
Andrew Lucas
I am an artist from Torquay working in watercolour, with a portfolio consisting of landscapes, seascapes and urban studies from various locations. I have a particular love of architecture which is evident throughout my work, and I very much enjoy the challenge that urban studies present. I also enjoy painting coastal scenes and landscapes, this for me is an important pause from the complicated urban scenes that take much planning to produce.
I am very keen on painting plein air and try to get out as much as I can. I feel that this is an important element of artistry, allowing you to observe from real life offers a grounding, and leaving the comfort of the studio helps to think on your feet as an artist. For me, the most important part of painting is to share my observations with the wider audience, with the hope that dialogue may be understood and enjoyed through my interpretation.
