Amanda Lyon-Smith
Amanda Lyon-Smith is best known for her evocative coastal abstractions. Her contemporary paintings, rich in depth and layered meaning draw inspiration from the raw, untamed beauty of the Devon coastline, where she enjoys breathtaking views of the Jurassic coast.
Amanda’s practice is rooted in intuition. Her creative process blend instinctive energetic mark making with an experimental use of various tools and mediums. Often including flotsam and collage, scraping, scratching, building and revealing-to create pieces that feel alive with movement and memory. Each uplifting piece emerges with an intuitive sense of colour harmony and composition
This coastal abstract is inspired by the massive tides of Devon and the strong running currents you see in our estuary mouths. It is on a 30x30cm wooden cradled board and set in a white wooden float frame
