Acrylic and Mixed Media by James Derwin
Purple River
James Derwin
James Derwin draws upon ancient and modern techniques, to create unique and tactile work. The process is an alchemy of expressive applications of hot wax and very subtle airbrush gradients. In 'Purple River' a subtle shift from gold to green in the sky contrasts with the deep purple river. There is also a more physical contrast between the glossy transparency of the slightly raised trees and the flat matte opacity of the sky. The mixed use of media and their different physical properties are used to enhance the image in changing light.
