Mystery of the Tropical Island
Galina Zimmatore
I am a local artist based in Torquay, my passion is for seascapes, landscapes and abstract paintings. Living next to the sea I am fascinated by the ever changing seas and skies as well as the beautiful Devon landscape.
I initially trained as an Interior Designer which gave me professional insight into colours and design. Later I did art courses in various styles and subjects including abstracts, portraits, landscapes and palette knife techniques. Most of my pictures are painted in oil or acrylic on canvas using palette knives and brush.
This picture is a very strange creation. I started out with the idea of painting Torquay Marina but as I applied more colours I felt the urge to generate some natural drama in the image. This lead to more features that became more and more like a far off island in the ocean. Standing back and looking at the finished painting the vision appeared to me of how Torquay Marina may one day look in the distant future due to inevitable Earth Changes on this incredible planet.
