Mixed Media Assemblage by Clive Jackson
MM 9
Clive Jackson
Clive Jackson’s works begin with attempts to create a sense of space or focus, according to which materials and techniques are used, without being tied to the idea of an image.
He prefers to use found materials, and the beginning of a sculpture can be triggered by, for example, the original shape of a piece of wood or the twist in a piece of metal.
Works in the exhibition are part of a series using mount board, tissue, acrylic paint and PVA.
They are made up of various components – three dimensional shapes that make up the composition. Clive looks at the overall profile and the shapes formed from different angles and also the gaps between, and through, the various parts. They are intended to be small with the idea that they could be imagined as vast monoliths or structures which reflects his interest in scale, space and perspective.
Recent exhibitions include Bermondsey Project Space, London; Outside In, Sotheby’s UK Touring Exhibition; the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London; SEVEN Part 1 and 2, Newington Gallery, London; and AKA Gallery, Cambridge.
