Ceramic by Eilean Eland
My most recent work focuses on the female figure, with an abstract and expressive rather than a realistic approach. I am interested in the form, rhythm and movement of womanly bodies which I want to represent as strong, resilient and powerful.
The scale of my work varies from very small to as large as I can go with my current kiln. All work is handbuilt hollow in paperclay, with slips, oxides and stains on the textured surface. The larger pieces work well outside, while the very small ones are more intimate.
