Oil by Richard Sowman
Garlic Walk
Richard Sowman
I trained at the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting, then at Falmouth School of Art in the glorious Seventies. My teachers included Francis Hewlett, Bob Organ and Euan Uglow. I wasted much of my life in the pursuit of traditional boats, but have been trying to make up for lost time by painting since the new Millennium dawned.
I show work in London, Newcastle, throughout the West Country, and have shown in Mertola, Portugal, and the RA Summer Exhibition.
What a world we have! But often ignored, undervalued, or simply trashed. It is a great privilege to have a job which is all about using one’s eyes. So I suppose my painting aspires to be a celebration of what might get missed, but which might be miraculous. What hubris!Oil on Board
