Ian Cox SWAc
Ian Cox is a full-time artist/printmaker based in Torquay, where he creates linoprint, mezzotint and monotype prints and works in charcoal.
His work features locations and subjects that suggest a sense of otherness, the uncanny, stillness and difference.
He produces art that is often highly detailed and painstakingly executed, although his practice is beginning to move towards a more impressionistic approach where dynamic mark-making is employed to capture the energy contained within his chosen subjects.
After training at art colleges in Plymouth and Exeter, and working for decades as a designer and illustrator, Ian re-focused his creative practice in 2016, since which time he has worked almost exclusively in the field of fine art printmaking.
An Academician member of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc), Ian exhibits regularly across the UK. He is currently working on a new body of work called 'Dartmoor24', which explores the relationship between folklore and the landscape of Dartmoor through a combination of drawings, linoprints and mezzotints.
