Polly Delahoy

Delahoy is influenced by her work in psychological therapy, along with nature, landscape, and the events of daily life.

The sea and mountains have held a lasting allure since her childhood holidays and time living in Ireland. Moving to the Southwest has reignited this passion through the medium of art, offering a sense of solace as she engages with her surroundings. The landscape evokes a feeling of mystery and enigma — for Delahoy, being within it provides a place of escape, and when she paints, she can escape even further.

Delahoy began focusing on her art in 2018, following semi-retirement from the NHS where she worked as a psychotherapist. Her spare time has allowed her to develop her passion for painting and drawing.

She has studied and completed two year-long courses with the Newlyn School of Art, defining her practice and expanding her studio skills.

Delahoy is a member of Contemporary Markmakers, Totnes, Devon Artists Network, and Torbay Artist Network, and has exhibited at Artizan Gallery, Torquay, Birdwood House, Totnes, The Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey, and Penzance Gallery, Cornwall.
