Based in North Tawton, Jo Purdue creates colourful, textured, semi-abstract landscapes using acrylics and oils. Recently, she’s been working with cold wax in her oil paintings, a medium that adds depth, eases blending, and gives a rich matt finish.

Her work is mostly imagined rather than tied to specific places. She aims to evoke mood and atmosphere - a sense of landscape, rather than literal detail. She enjoys exploring how colour and texture can shape emotional response and offer viewers a place to pause and reflect.

Jo has exhibited at several art shows and events, and takes part in Devon Open Studios, where she enjoys connecting with visitors and sharing new work. When she’s not in her studio, you’ll often find her walking on Dartmoor or The South West Coast Path with her husband and their black lab, places which provide endless inspiration that continue to shape her evolving artistic journey.
