Reduction Linoprint by Mandi Street
Walking the Lanes in Winter
Mandi Street
After gaining a BA in Fine Art many years ago, I subsequently spent 30 years in Education, teaching art and as a Secondary Headteacher. At last I am back to my first love, working on my art from my studio at home, near Exeter. This, and walking the many paths and lanes within reach of my home, has kept me sane during lockdown.
My work aims to capture the 'genus loci' of a landscape - the essence of a specific place, time and energy.
While I also work in paint, oil pastel, collage and watercolour, oil pastel and printmaking are my preferred media. For prints I use a reduction lino-printing method, which I approach with a painter's gestural marks.
