My current project entitled ‘Bottled Light’ explores the quiet presence of everyday glassware—bottles, jars, and vases on window sills —through the medium of monoprint. I am drawn to these objects for their dual nature: they are functional and can hold solids, yet also capable of holding light, colour, and shadow in unexpectedly evocative ways through reflection, refraction and distortion in a range of bright colours.

 

Working with ink, stencils, masks and collagraph, I am exploring pattern making and the variety of shapes possible using overlaps, colour and surface textures. The unpredictability of the medium mirrors the transparent qualities of glass itself.  The results are always a surprise.
