Artist Statement: Kavita is a local artist, based in Torquay. Her preferred medium is Indian ink typically embellished with watercolours. However, the last few years have been a journey of exploration; experimenting with chalks, acrylics, printmaking and clay. Inspired by her surroundings, Kavita has pushed the boundaries, expressing herself in a variety of media.
Work Description: I feel this selection of pieces really encapsulates the theme, the ‘Art of You,’ as it represents milestones in my artistic journey. The acrylic piece was produced in a space with other artists during periods of complete silence. The collograph was the piece that first got my interest in printmaking and finally, the turquoise screenprint was the first time I had combined my Indian ink sketches with printing.
