Tricia Torrington

Reflecting Cultures

Tricia Torrington is a printmaker, poet, and maker of artist’s books whose work often explores themes of transformation, including alchemy, the human body, place, mythology, and the arcane. As the former director of the IMPRESS Printmaking Festival (2006–2015) and a founding member of the GPC in Stroud, she has played a significant role in advancing the printmaking community.

Tricia’s work frequently takes the form of series, such as her explorations of India and China using photopolymer gravure. The China series incorporates cyanotype, a medium reflecting the cultural significance of blue, with butterflies symbolizing change. Her India prints, rendered in sepia tones, evoke a sense of timelessness, bridging the eras before and after the Raj.

Through her art, Tricia creates visually and thematically rich works that resonate with history, transformation, and the enduring power of imagery.
