Simon Ripley makes linocut monotypes handprinted with an 1850’s Columbian Press. His abstract work explores colour relationships and is a reflection upon his work taking printmaking into schools, hospitals, prisons, and other communities. The symbols and motifs in his work stand in for relationships, conversations, and observations. Each of his prints in unique and his work is characterised by the mix or resistance of colours on the paper. Simon is based in Devon and is a Director and Founder of Exeter’s Double Elephant Print Workshop.
