Fused Glass by Susan Purser Hope
Tracks In The Sand - Duet No 1
Susan Purser Hope
I am a contemporary fused glass artist who creates unique, hard crafted artworks. I love colour which is why I chose glass. For me it is the most magical of materials. I work with glass in a cold state and then use heat to fuse it together using a range of glass elements. My work is organised into collections where I review pivotal periods of my life, often interpreting meaning through the symmetry of pattern making. I specialise in wall hung works of art and accept commissions.
During the pandemic, I focused on developing small, affordable framed pieces of glass making work that is precious, easily accessible and raises people’s spirits.
Every day the fishermen go out to sea. Their tractors leave tracks that create patterns in the beach. Human footprints then interweave with these tracks. From this, I have created duets interpreting my marine environment from the convergence of track marks with human and animal footprints.
